Artist Statement

Every sculpture begins with the stone itself. Each piece has its own character, history, and possibilities, and my role is to discover what lies within. Working exclusively with traditional hand-carving tools, I develop a close relationship with the material, allowing the sculpture to emerge through a process of observation, patience, and response.

I am fascinated by the way light interacts with stone. It can travel through openings, reveal textures, and, in some stones, penetrate the material itself, bringing out hidden depths and subtle variations. Negative space is equally important to me; the spaces within and around a sculpture help define its form and create a dialogue between presence and absence, solidity and lightness.

My work is inspired by human experience and the emotions that connect us. Whether figurative or abstract, I aim to create sculptures that invite reflection and personal interpretation. Rather than telling a fixed story, I hope each piece offers space for viewers to discover their own meaning and emotional connection.

In a world that often values speed and instant results, I am drawn to the slower rhythm of hand carving. Working with stone requires patience, care, and respect for the material. Through this process, I hope to create sculptures that offer moments of quiet contemplation, connection, and discovery.
